The latest Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate survey confirms what I have been observing about one of the Texas coast’s most promising and active buyer: the Baby Boomer. The study suggests that Boomers could fuel a new housing boom, possibly in rural areas where they can build dream homes.
In my experience, Baby Boomers show no signs of fading into the sunset, and in fact their desire to maintain active lives supports the Better Homes survey. While real estate agents once saw older Americans drop out of the housing market, Boomers are still spend money on looking and feeling young through plastic surgery, fitness and personal improvement.
This shows me that Boomers will stay active in the second-home market instead of fading away into assisted living and nursing homes. On the Texas coast, we see Boomers staying active long after when previous generations left the market, some with inherited family money to put toward second homes.
