The Corpus Christi City Council took its first steps Tuesday in publicly opposing a proposed wind farm that opponents say would curb the city’s sprawling Southside growth. The draft resolution proposed last week will have little impact on a decision by Apex Clean Energy to install a 150-turbine wind farm near Chapman Ranch. The area lies in an extra-territorial jurisdiction where the council has no administrative or judicial authority.
The council is hoping to register its opposition to the wind farm in a master plan now being developed by a Massachusetts consultant for the Corpus Christi area. The plan is due out in about 18 months.
